Protect our BioDiversity - Blog Action Day

Blog Action Day - 15th October 2009.

Biodiversity is very much essential for life to exist on earth. It is our responsibility to protect and preserve the biodiversity of earth. Biodiversity is getting affected by global warming. Global warming or green house effect is happening mainly because of an alarming rate of increase in green house gases in the atmosphere. We are hearing about global warming everyday, the snow caps are melting, level of sea rising, floods in many countries, increasing number of hurricanes etc. Sooner than later every one of us has to understand the impact of greenhouse gases on biodiversity and help to achieve a healthy biodiversity on earth.

Instead of depending on government to implement policies to reduce green house gas emission and there by reduce greenhouse effect. Everyone of us try doing possible things during our day to day life to reduce the green house gases and protect the biodiversity of nature.

Here are a few ways an individual can do to conserve our biodiversity.

1. Walk - If the distance is walkable please walk or ride a bike don't use car. This is good for our own health also conserves the nature.
2. Make use of sunlight to the maximum and use less electricity at home. If available use solar cells for minimum lighting and heating.
3. When the weather is good stay outside more than sitting inside home and using air conditioning.
4. During winter wear warm clothes and reduce heating.
5. Eat more vegetarian product and reduce meat eating.
6. During your spare time plant a tree and/or protect a tree.
7. Drink filtered tap water not refrigerated or bottled drinks. Don't use bottled water to avoid the plastic usage. Plastics are not biodegradable.
8. eat more of freshly cooked meal and use less refrigerated foods.
9. Make your garden or lawn little more biodiversity. Allow different verities of plants to grow, use organic manure for the plants.
10. Educate our children, family and friends about biodiversity, global warming. Spread the news so everybody put their little energies to conserve our nature reduce global warming and safeguard biodiversity of earth.

Identification...

Identification is possession, the assertion of ownership.  Ownership denies love.  To own is to be secure; Possession is defense, making oneself invulnerable.  When there is defense, there will be no love.  Love is vulnerable, pliable, and receptive; it is the highest form of sensitivity.  Identification makes for insensitivity.  Identification destroys love. Identification destroys freedom.  Love or sensitivity exists only in freedom. Truth or happiness cannot come without undertaking the journey into the ways of the self.  You are anchored means you cannot travel far.  Identification is a refuge. A refuge needs protection

The root of suffering is attachment

“The root of suffering is attachment”  - Buddha An important teaching that we all need to work on. Non-attachment doesn’t mean to disconnect from your loved ones and lead a life of a hermit, but to be able to live amidst all this and accept the impermanence of all things. It means to go with the natural flow of life and not be attached to any of these things that the thought of losing it makes you angry or annoyed. Its only when you become attached, that all the problems and negative emotions arise. But when you don’t cling to things, it becomes easier to simply let go of the excess or things that don’t serve you any more.

Anger

Holding onto anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned. - Buddha...
