Nap without guilt: It boosts sophisticated memory

Today's news.. Just in time for the holidays, some medical advice most people will like: Take a nap. Interrupting sleep seriously disrupts memory-making, compelling new research suggests. But on the flip side, taking a nap may boost a sophisticated kind of memory that helps us see the big picture and get creative. "Not only do we need to remember to sleep, but most certainly we sleep to remember," is how Dr. William Fishbein, a cognitive neuroscientist at the City University of New York, put it at a meeting of the Society for Neuroscience last week. Good sleep is a casualty of our 24/7 world. Surveys suggest few adults attain the recommended seven to eight hours a night. Way too little clearly is dangerous: Sleep deprivation causes not just car crashes but all sorts of other accidents. Over time, a chronic lack of sleep can erode the body in ways that leave us more vulnerable to heart disease, diabetes and other illnesses. But perhaps more common than insomnia is fragment

Learn to fly

You were born with potential You were born with goodness and trust You were born with ideals and dreams You were born with greatness You were born with wings You are not meant for crawling, so don't. You have wings Learn to use them, and fly. -Rumi

Superior Man

The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin. When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are preserved. - Confucius

Energy & Spiritual Life

Energy conveys to us the idea of motion and activity. Inside a living organism we see a source of power, which by some manner is released in terms of movement.... Life is energy... it is the creator or initiator of movement change, development. We are different from moment to moment because the life principle is at work with us.... The spirit of humanity, like the forces of nature, and like the physical life, is at bottom energy.... Spiritual life, therefore, is just as much a development out of what has gone before in the evolutionary process as physical life is; which means that the origin of spiritual life is from within. - John Dietrich

Barack Obama - A new hope for America

History is created today as America voted Barack Obama to be our next President and Joe Biden to be our next Vice President. Life will not be easy for Obama and Biden , as they have ahead of them a challenge of leading a nation in crisis. I think Obama and Biden are the new hope for America to take us out of the current crisis and change the negative opinion of the world about America.

Historical Election Day

Today's election is historical in many respect, Hilary Clinton came very close to become democrats president nominee, and Barack Obama became the democrats president nominee. There is an overwhelming enthusiasm shown towards Obama and all the polls showing Obama leading, my gut feeling is that Barack Obama will be our next president. I am planning to go in the after noon to vote and I am so happy that I am a part in this historical election.

Origin of Myths

If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russel
